As one of the first Splash on Earth events that was held with an assortment of other new parks, and it was great to see all the young volunteers that where coming out to participate in the event. Conducting Splash on Earth at Godstone Park was kindly funded by Live Green To and our first step at stepping outside the Parkway Forest community.
Despite the hot summer weather, it was amazing to see people walking by with confused looks on their faces, only to be more surprised when they learn that food waste was used to make the paint they see using used. Having already conducted Splash on Earth at Parkway Forest Park, seeing the number of new faces was fresh and exciting. Additionally, connecting back with familiar faces who planned their day to stop by and participate in painting, showed me how much families and community residents appreciated the event.
As we continue to expand Splash on Earth to other communities in the Toronto, and even across the country, I know that the environmental, social, and mental well-being that this event strives to foster will only make a greater impact on communities that we all live in.
